B5 Audi S4You know how the old saying goes "first is the worst and second is the best..." Audi AG must have been strictly adhering to this philosophy when they launched the second generation S4 on a 'B5' chassis. This vehicle has undergone some thorough evolution since its inception in the later 1990's. We are now on variant five of this legendary machine-The newest being the B8.
The power train of the B5 is the sort of things all tuners dream about. Two turbochargers, siz cylinders and (the best part) Quattro all-wheel drive. The modest stock 250bhp can be easily amped up to 320+ without spending more than ~$600 for an ECU reflash and taking a few hours to remove, gut and reinstall the vehicles pre-cats. For a few thousand more...you could take one of these kraut-wagons to Stage 3 status. This holds an experience which is undescribable. The present market value of these cars is minimal making them an easy base for a new tuner. However be weary of high mileage, timing belts and senile KO3's. My Advice: If you see one of these with under 65,000 miles do yourself a favor and buy it.
